THE LATEST IN CELEBRITY HAIR TRANSFORMATIONS
2014 has been a year of drastic change in the celebrity hair department. We've seen a handful of celebs head to the salon and walk out almost unrecognizable. Whether for a role or just a change of pace, these stars switched things up good.
Kate Upton
Kate Upton's new shorter 'do may not be that drastic, but when anyone goes from longer hair to a lob it's a big deal in our eyes. Of course, the model looks as gorgeous as ever.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens has gone from punk to rock n' roll, trading in her bright red ombré locks for a shaggy Joan Jett-esque 'do.
Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba got even more creative with her latest Instagram hair debut and treated us to a step-by-step Flipagram of her going from brunette to blonde.
Sarah Hyland
Sarah Hyland is yet another celeb who decided to go light for fall (and debut it on Instagram of course) trading in her honey highlights for a platinum blonde.
Lauren Conrad
Looks like Lauren Conrad is getting a little scissor happy. It's been just three weeks since she said got her first haircut in years, and LC has already made three trips to the salon. The latest left her with an even shorter, choppier bob she Instagrammed with the caption "Just stopped by @kristin_ess' for my weekly chop."
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner is at it again: It seems her new ultra-long extensions with a subtle tint were not enough, so she dyed them a vibrant green instead. It’s certainly a bold move, but still nothing compared to her sister Kim Kardashian’s latest shenanigans.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner is known for her long legs and her long locks, but this week she ditched the latter in favor of a Kim Kardashian-esque lob. While Kylie recently got dramatic ultra-long extensions, we're feeling her older sister's more subtle new 'do.
Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie has spent much of the year rocking a rainbow of hair hues, from pastel purple to most recently, a teal blue. Now, she's gone her darkest shade yet: midnight blue. Could black be next?
Lily Allen
From blue, red, purple, and pink to now strawberry blonde, Lily Allen is well on her way to completing the rainbow when it comes to 2014 hair colors. Her latest bob, jokingly captioned "Dumb blonde" on her Instagram, is her foray back into traditional hair colors.
Faith Hill
The singer debuted a fresh new pixie 'do at the 2014 Country Music Awards.
Emma Roberts
Who says you have to go dark for fall? Emma Roberts has switched up her locks from from honey to a bright flaxen blonde. With her dark brows and choppy lob, she seems to be a channeling another Emma (Stone). We say, the more ladies with this look, the better.
Rita Ora
Rita Ora is known for switching up her signature platinum locks with drastic cuts and splashes of color. Even though her latest look is pink, it's almost demure in comparison to some of the others. We love the ladylike look.
Beyoncé
We’re officially declaring Beyoncé the Queen of Hair Transformations. Here she is at it again, back to her bob.
Cara Delevingne
Following in the footsteps of her BFF and Burberry model/It Brit/former blonde counterpart, Suki Waterhouse, Cara Delevingne has gone to the dark side. She stepped out at the 2014 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles with a new warm chestnut hue, same eyebrows. We love.
Kylie Jenner
Amongst all the speculation about Kylie Jenner's possible "new lips," the 17-year-old has emerged with a new 'do. The Daily Mail is reporting that she spent 12 hours in the salon to get the ultra-long locks with a subtle green hint just in time for Halloween—now that's dedication.
Ellen Page
Ellen Page popped up on Lena Dunham's Instagram feed showing off her pink shirt in support of the Planned Parenthood "Women Are Watching" campaign, as well as a short new 'do. Though the pixie is for her role in her upcoming indie flick Freeheld, we think it really suits her—just look at those cheekbones.
Shailene Woodley
Shailene Woodley’s love of all things natural has lead her to eat clay, but it hasn’t kept her from experimenting with hair color—or flip-flopping back-and-forth between brunette and blonde. Her latest hue: a rich chocolate brown perfect for fall.
Lena Dunham
What is the natural next step after you dye your hair platinum? To go green, of course. Lena Dunham is really getting experimental at the salon these days, now joining the colored hair crew with a "newly minted" look for the Canadian leg of her Not That Kind of Girl book tour.
Lauren Conrad
LC may be one to experiment with color, but she admitted on Instagram that this new choppy bob is the first time that she has actually cut her hair in years. We think this new look was well worth the wait.
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Sarah Michelle Gellar is the latest celeb to get in on the long bob trend. She debuted her new look via Instagram (naturally) with the caption "Time for a Change."
Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson made a red carpet appearance last night with her signature blonde locks now pink! But the actress did not just dye her ‘do to keep up with the trends: Hudson and her mom Goldie Hawn both added a little cotton candy color to their hair in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all the women who have fought and are fighting breast cancer. We support her color and her cause.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé ditched her bob, reuniting with her long golden extensions a few weeks ago. But she’s made our list once again, this time for chopping her face-framing fringe into itty-bitty baby bangs.
Kristin Cavallari
Kristin Cavallari first gave us a little tease on Instagram with a shot of her chopped off ponytail laying on a windowsill. But after waiting patiently, she delivered a proper selfie, revealing adorable, choppy locks that had been brightened by Justin Anderson, the creative director of dpHUE.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens is all about having a little fun with fashion (hello, Coachella) and is always switching things up when it comes to her hair, too. Her latest look: a fiery red ombré with lipstick to match.
Shailene Woodley
Since cutting her hair for The Fault in Our Stars, Shailene Woodley hasn't shied away from experimentation—and her blonde highlights are the latest switch up. Woodley debuted the streaks at Miu Miu's show during Paris Fashion Week, which leads us to wonder how soon her next color change will be since she's still sporting brown roots.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj debuted a major hair change (a cute blunt bob!) on Instagram, but some things (that cleavage!) never change.
Ashley Tisdale
Ashley Tisdale has a few new things in her life: She got married last month, and she just debuted a new blueish, purple-y 'do. The newlywed is the latest starlet to dabble in the candy-colored hair trend that just keeps on going.
Suki Waterhouse
Suki Waterhouse, the face of Burberry makeup, BFF of Cara Delevingne, and girlfriend of Bradley Cooper, took to Instagram to thank @nevillesalon for her hair transformation. And what a transformation it was—she went from her flaxen tresses to a deep chocolate brown—but possibly a short-lived one, as she just posted a photo of herself with her usual blonde.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is truly a hair color chameleon, and we're not just talking about going from brunette to blonde and back again. The pop star has tried out all colors of the rainbow from pink to blue to green. Her latest: fiery red hair inspired by the feisty muppet, Animal.
Camilla Belle
Who says you need to go darker for fall? The (former) brunette beauty Camilla Belle just stepped out with majorly lightened locks.
Sandra Bullock
When one signature blonde (Elle Fanning) goes dark, a signature brunette must switch hair color teams, too: It’s a common beauty courtesy, right? Case in point: Sandra Bullock, an iconic brunette beauty, stepped out in New Orleans with majorly lightened locks. We’ve seen her blonde before, and she does look gorge, but Bullock will always be a dark-haired girl to us.
Elle Fanning
With a fresh face and famous older sister Dakota Fanning already holding Hollywood's heart, Elle Fanning emerged as the younger yet equally talented (and endearing) member of her family to take cinema. Known for her signature blonde hair that nearly marked her as a Fanning, Elle turned heads when she switched her hue to a warm brown at the premiere of The Boxtrolls. Is it a fun change or a greater declaration of her independence? We can only guess.
Gabrielle Union
Gabrielle Union has ditched her dark chocolate locks for honey highlights and choppy bangs. Though she’s gorgeous either way, her new look gives her new edge that we’re into.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore has always been a hair chameleon, going from short to long, from platinum blonde to red, and more. Though we’ve seen her dark before, we’re especially loving the chestnut hue she debuted at Stella McCartney’s Green Carpet Collection fashion show. It’s just perfect for fall.
Halle Berry
Halle Berry, one of the original pixies who rocked the trendy haircut years before so many others made the chop, just stepped out with some majorly long locks. Though we love her with short hair, she should be allowed to have a little fun with extensions, too. She looks gorge, obviously.
Khloé Kardashian
Some people chop off their hair when they go through a breakup. Khloé Kardashian gets cornrows. Well, we can’t actually say if her new braided ‘do is a reaction to her alleged split from French Montana or not, but we can say, she looks like a new woman.
Selena Gomez
While we were catching up on sleep we lost during fashion week, Selena Gomez went and got herself some bangs. This hairstyle never really goes out of style, but the gorgeous pop star proves that fringe is definitely still in.
Megan Fox
Megan Fox is known for being sexy: those lips, her cheekbones, and that long, wavy hair. But while we were all running around at fashion week, the new mom decided to chop off her signature long locks and go darker. Sure enough, she is still sexy as hell. In fact, we think her new shaggy, long bob is even more flattering.
